   Summary of “Going Places” by A.R. Barton “Going Places” is a story about Sophie , a young girl from a poor working-class family who dreams of a glamorous and successful future. The story mainly explores the contrast between dreams and reality , and shows how Sophie’s imagination allows her to escape from her ordinary life. 1. Sophie’s Dreams The story begins with Sophie returning from school with her friend Jansie . Sophie tells Jansie that she is going to open a boutique when she leaves school.
